Ferris State University is joining JSTOR Digital Stewardship Services as a Tier 2 participant, selecting JSTOR’s integrated platform to support the next phase of its digital collections and institutional repository work.

As part of this transition, Ferris will work with JSTOR’s professional migration services team to move collections from its current Islandora environment into Stewardship. Those collections span a wide range of institutional and scholarly materials, including capstone projects, theses and dissertations, campus records and publications, and photographs.

Through Tier 2, Ferris will gain a cloud-hosted environment for digital asset management, long-term preservation via Portico, and the ability to extend discovery by sharing materials on JSTOR via Ferris State University’s collections page. This move gives Ferris an accessible and sustainable home for its digital collections and institutional repository materials to support research, teaching, and access across the university.

“This move gives Ferris State an opportunity to bring our digital collections work into a more stable and sustainable environment,” said Stacy Anderson, Assessment Librarian at Ferris. “We’re looking forward to a platform that supports our staff’s workflows, helps us manage collections more effectively, and creates a stronger foundation for access going forward.”

“The Ferris team has been through many different changes, from staffing to workflows, and they needed a new and modern system that supports their goals. Their interest began with pragmatic needs, and they came to see how Stewardship could activate their collections in a powerful way,” said Jess Clemons, Director of Business Development, JSTOR Stewardship. “Stewardship will give them a stronger long-term environment for their digital collections, and we’re proud to partner with them as they strengthen access to and preservation of their collections.”
