Siena University has become a Tier 2 participant in JSTOR Digital Stewardship Services, selecting JSTOR’s integrated platform to support the management, preservation, and discovery of digital collections stewarded by the Standish Library.

By transitioning to JSTOR Stewardship, the Standish Library at Siena University is replacing legacy infrastructure and establishing a sustainable path for the long-term care of faculty and undergraduate research, digitized historical materials, and audiovisual documentation of campus life. As a Tier 2 participant, Siena gains unified tools to manage collections, publish to JSTOR for broader discovery, and ensure long-term access through OAIS‑compliant preservation powered by Portico.

Working with JSTOR’s professional migration team, the Standish Library team successfully moved collections from its previous CONTENTdm system into JSTOR’s cloud-hosted digital asset management environment. Today, The Siena University Digital Repository on JSTOR provides access to over 2,600 items, including scholarly and creative works of Siena University community members, and digitized materials from the College’s Fine Art Collections, Archives, and Fleet Special Collections. Future phases include leveraging Stewardship’s auto-transcription and captioning capabilities for audiovisual materials, and using JSTOR Workspace to strengthen instructional integration and visibility of collections.

“Joining JSTOR Digital Stewardship Services gives us a dynamic, accessible, and lasting home for Siena’s collections, both strengthening preservation and making our materials easier to discover and use on JSTOR,” said Vicki Parsons, Library Director, Standish Library at Siena University.

“Siena’s thoughtful planning and deep commitment to strengthening preservation and access are precisely what JSTOR Stewardship is here to support,” said Jess Clemons, Director of Business Development, JSTOR Stewardship.
